Presenting a showcase concert at The Tung Auditorium, Liverpool in April 2025.

The academic year of 2024–2025 is now coming to a close, and it's been full of activity.

In November 2025 the Harrison Parrott Foundation held their symposium in partnership with the University of Liverpool at the Tung Auditorium. It was a great pleasure to give the introductory speech and be involved in the vibrant conversations of the day, concluding with the OP. 1 Concert where I performed Stephen Hough's Three Mozart Transformations.

In January 2025 I became the Director of Studies for the Department of Music. I'm enjoying fulfilling this role alongside my other duties in the department. As a performance lecturer I had the privilege of working with several outstanding final year UG students this year, performances included Clara Schumann's Piano Concerto and a world premiere of a piece especially composed for a recital.

We've had several outstanding showcase concerts of student work in the Tung Auditorium this year too. In my role I present, programme, and manage the events, ensuring as many student benefit from the opportunities as possible. Again, it's always wonderful to see the hard work pay off and the range of brilliant work our students produce.

Looking ahead, I have several projects in the pipeline, both from a research and performance perspective. The first to come to light will be a performance at the Tung Auditorium as a part of the Yoko Ono Lennon Lunchtime Concert Series on Wednesday 5th November 2025. The concert is titled 'A Piano Voyage to France' with repertoire by Ravel, Fauré and Franck. Franck's Prelude Chorale et Fugue will be the finale and is a piece I first performed as a part of my final Masters recital at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama; as often happens when revising repertoire, I felt it time to look at it once again and am currently enjoying revisiting the piece and discovering its beauty once more. One of my current plans is to document my preparation more, both as an example to my students, but also to help me balance my work as a pianist alongside other roles. I've taken inspiration from some of my students and how they engage with social media, posting videos and photos of their practice to show progress and share their work more widely. I've made a start on my Instagram page, and will continue to do it there as well as here.

That's the highlights for now, and more to follow soon with updates on my work.
